ABOUT RE-SURF-ACED
Hey, I’m Richard — the hands, heart, and slightly sunburnt face behind Re-Surf-Aced.
I’ve been into water sports for over 50 years, and if it floats, paddles, or rides a wave, chances are I’ve spent some time with it. Over the years, I’ve seen way too much gear end up in the bin when it could’ve been fixed, reworked, or reimagined. That’s where Re-Surf-Aced comes in.
I take broken bodyboards, battered kayaks, and tired old canoes and give them a another shot at life. Whether it’s a repair job or a full-on up-cycle, I love the challenge of turning “ready for the tip” into “ready for the water.”
It’s all about keeping good kit out of landfill, saving people money, and doing my bit for the planet — one board at a time.

The problem with polystyrene
Every summer, thousands of cheap polystyrene body boards are abandoned on UK beaches.
These boards are often poorly made, break easily, and leave behind a trail of plastic pollution that threatens our oceans and marine life. At Re-Surf-Aced, we’ve seen the damage first hand—and we’re not standing by.
-
Over 1,000 broken boards are recovered each year by the incredible team at the Keep Britain Tidy Ocean Recovery Project.
-
Many more are left behind, breaking down into microplastics that enter delicate marine ecosystems.
-
These boards are often imported in bulk, contributing to a significant carbon footprint before they even reach the beach.
Our Response
We believe there’s a better way. That’s why we’re committed to:
-
Crafting body boards from broken and abandoned boards
-
Using hemp, bio-resin, and glass fibre cloth—materials that are strong, sustainable, and ocean-friendly.
-
Reusing other peoples waste materials wherever possible—even
-
Repairing canoes and kayaks using glass fibre, polyester resin, and epoxy bio-resin—extending the life of quality gear.
Our Mission
We’re here to challenge throwaway culture in water sports. By offering durable, sustainable alternatives, we aim to:
-
Reduce waste on our beaches
-
Lower the environmental impact of water sports
-
Inspire a new wave of conscious riders
Whether you’re a weekend paddler or a seasoned surfer, we invite you to join us in riding the wave—not the waste.
